I usually get stumped and momentarily gaze away when people ask me, “What do you do?” My thoughts float up in my brain like cartoon text bubbles. Nurse. Realtor. Woodworker. Gardener. Activist. But strangely, in terms of my writings, I typically respond, “I also write books.” Apprehensive? Maybe. Coy? Most definitely. I began my career as a licensed professional, overseeing patient care for decades, so to be redefined by the term “author” felt imposter like. Yet, it is one of my greatest achievements. The peace I get when sitting quietly reading a book from renowned authors to Indie authors is the same peace I receive when writing. Being a mom of four and a magnet to children (maybe because I’m nurturing and always joking), allows me to see the world from a kids’ perspective up close. I use that advantage to write children’s fiction books in a voice they can relate to with touches of humor. My adult fiction books, while not as innocent as the children’s books, well, let’s face it, parts may be down right risque; my humor and wit can be seen throughout them just the same. Come along and join me on this written journey of adventure. All aboard!
